Development and Operations Coordinator

Organization

The mission of MountainTrue is to champion resilient forests, clean waters, and healthy communities in Western North Carolina. MountainTrue works across 23 counties in the southern Appalachians, has 16 staff and a $1.2 million budget. For more information, please visit, www.mountaintrue.org.

The Position

​The Development and Operations Coordinator will further the mission of MountainTrue by providing excellent and energetic fundraising support for the organization. The Development and Operations Coordinator is responsible for the management of data to be used to analyze engagement, donor and marketing functions. This position is also responsible for processing donations, engaging with donors, and general office management. This position reports to Development Director.

 

Primary responsibilities

Database

  • Maintain foundation, business and individual donor files.
  • Develop mailing lists and manage the renewal and appeal mailing process.
  • Recommend processes to translate strategies into database tracking, staying current in database features and utility, developing reports, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data, performing database maintenance and clean-up projects to improve data integrity and database performance, facilitating end-user training and support.
  • Coordinate and plan for future data conversions/upgrades as needed.

Donations

  • Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other donor correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of foundation proposals and corporate solicitations.
  • Together with bookkeeper, reconcile donor records with accounting records.

Donor Relations

  • Answer phone and email inquiries regarding donations.

Office Management (average 5 hrs/week)

  • Assist with implementation of cultivation events and activities.
  • Coordinate merchandise, maintain office supplies, update annual organizational forms.
  • Orient new staff.
  • Serve as liaison with IT consultants, building manager, cleaning staff.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional attention to detail while maintaining productivity including accurate and efficient typing, ability to work on many projects at once, problem-solving skills, and ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and experience with databases and online giving platforms, GiftWorks, FastTransact and Blue State Digital preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Have a Social Security Number, US Residency, or Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA) status.

This is a permanent, full time position with benefits based out of the Asheville MountainTrue office. Occasional nights/weekends for select events may be required. Salary mid-$30s.
