Come help MountainTrue clean up Big Hungry River!
We’ll be removing trash and other debris from the Big Hungry River off of Big Hungry Road near Hendersonville. The Big Hungry River is a major tributary of the Green River, and flows through protected land (Green River Game Lands) enroute to the famous ‘Green River Narrows.’ We will be removing litter and other trash from the areas along the river where summertime swimming and fishing is enjoyed.
We’ll meet at 9:30 am at the Ingles Grocery Store on Upward Road in Flat Rock to carpool to the Big Hungry Road bridge over Big Hungry River. MountainTrue’s Water Quality Administrator, Jack Henderson, will be in touch with registered participants a week before the event with final details and directions.
Volunteers should bring sturdy shoes, clothing that can get wet, appropriate weather gear, lunch & snacks, water, sunscreen, etc. MountainTrue will provide trash bags, gloves, and a limited supply of waders for those that want to get in the water.
