Rose Bruce, Americorps Forest Keeper Coordinator

RoseBruce.staffphoto300x300Rose Bruce is excited to join MountainTrue as the Forest Keeper Coordinator through AmeriCorps Project Conserve. Rose will be helping to manage and restore land through service, education, and volunteer engagement, primarily by supporting the eradication of non-native invasive plants in our forest systems.

Rose grew up on a farm outside of Ferryville, WI and has always had a passion for botany, wildlife, and land stewardship. She pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Ecological Forestry at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC. Through that program, Rose was able to gain experience in forest biology and dendrology, silviculture and forest management, research design, and GIS. Rose enjoys traveling, hiking, foraging, beekeeping, making art, and kayaking whenever she has the opportunity. She is thrilled to be able to keep learning about the ecology of the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains while engaging the communities of Western North Carolina in environmental restoration.

We value mountain communities that are vibrant, livable, and respectful of their connection to and dependence on the region’s natural environment.
We value the integrity of natural systems – air, land, water, and native plants and animals – and believe in protecting and restoring them for the benefit of all generations.
