Wesser Bald is one of many areas, totaling 152,000 acres, that are protected by the 2001 Roadless Rule. The Secretary of Agriculture has proposed repealing the rule to develop these areas for logging and mining.
We will enjoy a moderately strenuous hike up Wesser Creek during the peak bloom of spring wildflowers to appreciate one of the many special places protected by the Roadless Rule.
Youth able to hike 4 miles are welcome to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the outing.
Well behaved pets are permitted on a leash.
