The Bald Mountain Roadless Area is the largest Roadless Area in the Blue Ridge Mountains between Smoky Mountains National Park and Shenandoah National Park. It is one of many areas in Western North Carolina, totaling 152,000 acres, that are protected by the Roadless Rule. Secretary of Agriculture Brook Rollins and Project 2025 have called for repealing the Roadless Rule despite it’s overwhelming public support.
We will hike in the the Bald Mountain Roadless Area during peak wildflower bloom to appreciate one of the special places protected by the rule.
Youth able to hike 6 miles are welcome to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the outing.
As much as we love our furry friends, pets are not allowed on this hike.
