Join your Broad Riverkeeper for a Saturday on the First Broad River. This section of river is wider and sandier than upstream as the river transitions from the Foothills into the Piedmont. Meet up at another brand new NC Wildlife Resources Commission boat launch (Delight Road PFA, Lawndale, NC) at 10:00 am sharp! We will unload boats and gear, then take all the vehicles to the take-out spot and shuttle back to begin paddling. This section is approximately 7 miles. We will be on the water for about 5 hours, including a stop for lunch.
Please bring your boat, paddle, and lifejacket (PFD), water, lunch, sunscreen, sturdy water shoes or sneakers (no flip-flops), towel and a dry change of clothes.
- we have some kayaks available to rent, max. 4 rentals (If the boat rental is sold out, you MUST be prepared to bring your own boat/gear).
- If you are borrowing a boat, please call David @ 704-300-5069 to confirm PFD (life jacket) size and boat preference.
There is a fairly strenuous portage near the end of the trip. We will need to carry our boats approximately 200 yards.
