We will hike on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail into the Woods Mountain Roadless Area. This hike will highlight the success and importance of the 2001 Roadless Rule in protecting wild places and stewarding taxpayer funds.
Along the way we will see remnants of ancient forest, evidence of frequent fire, and excellent views of the Black Mountains and the Blue Ridge Escarpment. This will be a good chance to learn and practice winter tree identification.
Youth able to hike 5 miles are welcome to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the outing.
Well behaved pets are permitted on a leash.
