Join MountainTrue’s Southwestern Habitat Restoration Coordinator, Tony Ward, and Southwestern Watershed Outreach Coordinator, Savannah Lytle, for a springtime stroll through Heritage Park in Andrews, NC. As we follow the walking trail beside the Valley River and Town Branch, we’ll learn about a variety of native trees and shrubs. We will discuss their importance for streambank stabilization, shade, stormwater filtration, wildlife habitat, and more.

During the walk, we’ll explore several initiatives along the river, including two stream restoration projects on Town Branch conducted by the Hiwassee Watershed River Coalition in 2006 and 2015. Additionally, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about ongoing local water quality monitoring programs including Adopt-A-Stream, Swim Guide and the Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail.

Before or after this walk, please make sure to enjoy spring in the mountains by visiting downtown Andrews for the Annual Spring Fling Street Fair & Nature Expo!
