It’s never too early to get our public green spaces ready for Springtime! Thanks to our friends at Transition Blue Ridge and The Town of Boone Mayor’s Ecological Task Force, we are thrilled to be apart of a Barberry eradication effort at Strawberry Hill.

AA hidden gem of the town, this arboretum is in desperate need of Japanese Barberry removal! We’ll cut the stems and dig up the root to selectively remove and eradicate each invasive Barberry bush.

Barberry root is a source of berberine, a compound supportive of digestion, immune function, and cardiovascular health. After removal, the root will be utilized by a local herbalist for making medicine. We hope to see y’all there!

Youth are welcome but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the workday.

Parking: available at Boone Jaycee Park and the Boone Native Gardens
