Ring in Springtime and join us for a fun morning filled with plant identification and eradication with our friends from the The Mayor’s Ecological Task Force, Blue Ridge Conservancy, and Transition Blue Ridge. Volunteers will be focusing on identifying and eradicating non-native plants like barberry, oriental bittersweet, and garlic mustard. We’ll be using a variety of eradication methods such as cut and dab, traditional pulling, and root extraction.
While these plants are pesky, they’re also delicious when prepared properly! Thanks to our partners at FARM Cafe and Wildwood Community Market/Layers of Love, we’ll be able to try a wild pesto with delicious homemade bread during our workday. If you can’t beat ’em, eat ’em!
In the event of inclement weather, this event will be canceled. Any changes will be communicated via email.
Children are welcome but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the workday. Please no pets.
All Volunteers are eligible to receive a complimentary annual membership to MountainTrue. To activate your membership, email members@mountaintrue.org!
