When you become a MountainTrue member, you join a grassroots network of people who care deeply about the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains.
Membership is open to everyone. While we recommend a gift of $40 per year or more, you can become a member for as little as $1 per year — because what matters most is having you by our side.

When I think of MountainTrue, I see in my mind’s eye the many ways in which it benefits the people of the southern Blue Ridge. That’s by protecting our forests and public lands, lobbying our General Assemblymen and women to create good legislation, fighting for us in the courts when needed, building and supporting local grassroots coalitions to create the communities we want to live in, testing and keeping track of our water quality, and, in cases of emergency, coming to the literal rescue. The professional knowledge of its staff is deep and broad. Much of their work goes unseen by the public, but we all benefit from it. Every single one of us.

I began volunteering with MountainTrue after Helene hit Western North Carolina. The volunteering experience has been outstanding — well organized, impactful, great cross section of volunteers and fun. Memberships are current for one year from the date of your initial membership gift. Additional gifts made within 10 months of a membership gift are considered additional donations and will not renew a membership. Members can request that any donation be considered their membership gift.
