Join MountainTrue for a 6-mile float down the French Broad River near Asheville!

Participants will enjoy friendly currents, pastoral views, native flora and fauna, and glimpses of the historic Biltmore Estate, and learn about efforts to protect, study, and steward the river! Folks are welcome to bring their own boats or borrow a canoe from MountainTrue if they have experience. This section is beginner-friendly, however participants should have prior experience paddling moving water, be able to swim, and come prepared with proper clothing, equipment, water, snacks, lunch, etc.

Kids are welcome, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, be comfortable in a boat on moving water, and be able to swim.

This float is in partnership with RiverLink’s inaugural Creek Week, which this year is July 6-11!
Visit https://riverlink.org/creek-week/ for more events celebrating environmental stewardship!

Please bring your boat, paddle, and lifejacket (PFD) if you aren’t borrowing from MountainTrue, water, lunch, sunscreen, sturdy water shoes or sneakers (no flip-flops), towel and a dry change of clothes.

Meet-up location is Hominy Creek Park. Once everyone is gathered, we will shuttle to Bent Creek River Park to put-in.

The event will still occur if there is light rain. If heavy rain, thunderstorms, or high water, we will cancel, and participants will be notified by email by 8:00 AM on the morning of the event.
