Join your Broad Riverkeeper for another Saturday on the First Broad River. This section of river is the furthest upstream section with public access. It is narrow and shallow with a sandy bottom and nice rock outcroppings, flowing gently through the beautiful South Mountains foothills. Mountain laurel and other wildflowers will be abundant!
Meet up at the new NC Wildlife Resources Commission boat launch (Hwy 10 PFA near Polkville, NC) at 10:00 am sharp! We will unload boats and gear, then take all the vehicles to the take-out spot and shuttle back to begin paddling. This section is approximately 5 miles. We will be on the water for about 4 hours, including a stop for lunch.
Please bring your boat, paddle, and lifejacket (PFD), water, lunch, sunscreen, sturdy water shoes or sneakers (no flip-flops), towel and a dry change of clothes.
- we have some kayaks available to rent, max. 4 rentals (If the boat rental is sold out, you MUST be prepared to bring your own boat/gear).
- If you are borrowing a boat, please call David @ 704-300-5069 to confirm PFD (life jacket) size and boat preference.
The rain date for this event is May 16th. Please save both dates on your calendar.
