The future of some of America’s last wild forests — including treasured landscapes here in
the Southern Blue Ridge — is at risk. The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to roll back the
25-year-old Roadless Area Conservation Rule to make way for road building, logging and mining in the largest reduction of public land protections in its history. Meanwhile, the federal government has reduced transparency requirements, making it more difficult for forest advocates to speak up.
In response, MountainTrue & partners are holding our own public hearings! Join us to speak up for the backcountry roadless areas on our National Forests.
Visit https://maps.roadless.org/ for an interactive map of designated roadless areas. In the dropdown menu on the left choose Southern Region, then choose the state of interest.
