Marla George

Marla George is MountainTrue’s People Operations Coordinator, focusing on supporting the people behind the mission. Marla moved to Asheville in 2008 to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNCA. Through her figurative sculpture work, she began exploring her interest in people, relationships, and human connection. Her unique professional journey since then spans everything from baking biscuits, to bartending, working as an espresso technician, and fabricating dentures. Through these diverse roles, Marla discovered a deep love for learning and realized that for her, true meaningful work comes from anticipating her team’s needs and setting them up to thrive. After first joining MountainTrue on the Asheville debris team, she is thrilled to now support her coworkers from the inside, ensuring they have everything they need to protect and restore our regional environment. As an avid learner who is constantly full of questions, Marla brings that same curiosity to her free time. You can usually find her tinkering in her shop or floating down the river, where she puts her debris training to work removing any trash she finds.
