Thank Sen. Ted Alexander. Support a First Broad River State Trail

Lawndale Park, part of the First Broad River Paddle Trail

Senator Ted Alexander has officially filed Senate Bill 819, a bill to authorize the First Broad River State Trail. If passed, this would be a big win for our community, our economy, and our river.

Why This Matters

The First Broad River is a natural treasure, connecting Golden Valley in Rutherford County to the confluence with the Broad River in Cleveland County. Currently, this 65-mile stretch has only four public access points. Authorization of a State Trail would unlock:

  • More River Access: New public entry and exit points for paddlers.
  • Trail Maintenance: Resources to keep the river clean and navigable.
  • Recreation Infrastructure: Future opportunities for land acquisition and paddle-in campsites.
  • Economic Growth: Boosting tourism and supporting local businesses in Shelby, Lawndale, and beyond.

Take Action:
We want Senator Alexander to know that his constituents and river lovers across the state appreciate his leadership in protecting our natural resources and expanding outdoor recreation.
