Join us on Saturday, July 11th for an up close look at the life that lives below the water’s surface. Participants will get the chance to sample for and learn to identify aquatic macroinvertebrates living in the Tuckaseegee River! Come learn about the importance of these insects, mollusks & crustaceans and what they can tell us about the quality of the water.
At this event, participants will be wading into the river and kicking up some rocks on the stream bottom. We are asking that attendees feel comfortable wading through fast flowing water. If you are feeling concerned about getting into the river, please instead consider joining us later in the day at the Jackson County Greenway for a macroinvertebrate pop-up event! All are welcome at this event but those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of inclement weather, this event will be moved to Saturday, July 18th.
