The summer may be winding down, but the Block Party campaign is hitting its stride. You can help us build communities in Asheville that are more sustainable and affordable by showing up this month.
Whether you’re new to advocacy or a seasoned wonk, there’s something for you during August. Asheville City Council may be considering two of our priority zoning amendments on August 25th, so now is the time to get involved!
First, we’ll host another Housing Activist Public Comment Training on Monday, August 10th from 6:00 – 7:00pm. The session will start with a quick overview of middle housing and the zoning amendments we’re advocating for. You’ll hear from advocates who have made public comments in front of City Council before, and we’ll go over the nuts-and-bolts of submitting a written comment or delivering a comment in person. RSVP below to attend.
On Monday, August 17th, we’ll host a Block Party Happy Hour at River Arts District Brewing to pass out our free campaign t-shirts and yard signs. Drop by for five minutes or stay for longer conversations with other campaign volunteers and interested community members. We’ll be there from 5:30 to 7:00pm. RSVP below to let us know you’ll be stopping by!
We can be pro-housing and pro-environment, advocating for reforms that would make more housing options possible while protecting our beautiful natural landscapes here in Asheville.
We’re looking forward to seeing you and keeping our campaign’s momentum going. Reach out to Shea at shea@mountaintrue.org with any questions.
