In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
Come help MountainTrue’s Ecologist & Public Lands Director, Bob Gale, and Forest Keeper Coordinator, Rhys Burns, remove non-native invasive plant species from part of the DuPont State Forest. These non-native species displace native ones that play important roles in the ecosystem. With MountainTrue’s guidance you can learn to identify and control non-native invasive species and help restore part of the forest. All equipment will be provided, but bring work gloves if you have them. You’ll also need close-toed shoes (old sneakers or hiking boots are ideal), water, and snacks. This invasive removal effort is part of the first DuPont Forest Festival, run by the Friends of DuPont Forest. You can find more information about the Forest Festival here.
