In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
MountainTrue, the Broad Riverkeeper, The Broad River Greenway and the NC Wildlife Resources Commission will host an in-person kickoff event at the Broad River Greenway on Saturday, August 28, for the first day of MountainTrue’s second annual Broad River Fishing Tournament.
There will be games, giveaways, and educational materials for all ages:
Group fishing: Tanya Poole, the Mountain Education Specialist with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, will host fishing from the shore from 9 a.m. to noon.
Boat fishing: David Caldwell, MountainTrue’s Broad Riverkeeper will be leading short fishing outings in a canoe.
Casting practice: Kids and beginners can practice their casting skills onshore.
Raffle drawing: Enter to win a prize pack including a fishing pole and tackle.
And more: Crafts, activity packs, fish identification games, educational activities and more.
