Invasive Removal at Double Head Knob near Arden, NC 4/24

April 24 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Join MountainTrue Biologist, Josh Kelly for an invasive plant removal workday. This workday will include a scenic and strenuous 3-mile hike to Double Head Knob, an excellent example of a montane grassland growing over a sloping rock outcrop. The site is being threatened by several species of invasive plants, which participants will help control mechanically and with herbicide.

We normally welcome younger folks on outings but for this workday, participants must be over the age of 14, able to complete a strenuous hike and comfortable using herbicides.

Meeting location:
We will meet at 9 am at Bent Creek Gap where the Mountains to Sea Trail crosses Bent Creek Rd.

Remember to Bring:
Long sleeved shirt
Long pants
Sturdy footwear
Two liters of water
Lunch
Rain gear

The rain date for this event is April 26, 2024. Please save both dates on your calendar.
