In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
DEQ is holding a public hearing on August 22 at 6 p.m. at the South Buncombe Library at 260 Overlook Road to hear from the community on Duke’s proposal to modify their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater permit for Asheville. While analysis of this proposal and talking points are forthcoming, we encourage you to plan to attend and push DEQ to protect the French Broad River against toxic coal ash pollution and make Duke Energy clean up its coal ash at Asheville safely and responsibly.
