Waiting List: Winter Bird Watch on Lake Chatuge near Hayesville, NC 2-26-22

MountainTrue will host the 16th annual Winter Bird Watch outing on Lake Chatuge, Saturday, February 26th. Retired Young Harris College professor and MountainTrue member, Brenda Hull will lead the bird watch again this year. A spotting scope is provided for up-close views, but participants should still bring binoculars and a favorite bird identification guide, if they have them. The outing is limited to 10 participants. Spring 2022 SMIE Biomonitoring Training 3-5-22

We rely on volunteers to help us monitor stream health throughout Henderson and Polk Counties and participate in biomonitoring twice a year, in April and October. Through the Stream Monitoring Information Exchange (SMIE) biomonitoring program, we sample aquatic macroinvertebrates, or aquatic insects, as indicators of water quality. Both new and returning SMIE volunteers are welcome.
