MountainTrue University: Community-Powered Solar in the Fight Against Climate Change

Join Organizer & Communications Manager, Eliza Stokes, to learn more about local advocacy for 100% renewable energy in our region. Eliza will focus on the power of two recent collaborative solar energy purchasing efforts in Buncombe County – one between local governments and public schools, and another among local residents and businesses – and explore how similar campaigns could build momentum for renewable energy in other communities in our region.

Hannah is a graduate student at Appalachian State University in biochemical toxicity and is one of the leading experts on the Watauga and its ecology. She is intimately familiar with the area and the river ecosystem and is eager to help us find some smallmouth bass, black nose dace, rainbow and brown trout, and hopefully some tangerine darters!

Pints for a Purpose

Come out to Hi-Wire Brewing and enjoy a beer while learning about our Solarize program and support your neighbors! Hi-Wire Brewing will donate $1 from each pour of their Flagship pints during Neighbor to Neighbor Solar. Proceeds will help make no-cost or reduced-cost solar available for households making less than the area medium income.

As a member of the Neighbor to Neighbor Solar coalition, MountainTrue helps play an important role in the Solarize Asheville-Buncombe County Campaign. Using solar energy can greatly reduce the electricity burden for low-income families while simultaneously freeing up funds for other critical family support needs. Combined with the Solarize Asheville-Buncombe group discount pricing, we can further reduce the cost of solar and help make your donation go even further!
