Join us for the 1st ever Broad River Race Day! We welcome folks to race at their own pace, and enjoy 5 miles on the most beautiful stretch of the Broad River. Remember, the hare may not out run the tortoise!

Oklawaha Greenway Non-Native Invasive Plant Removal

You'll get a brief training on identifying target invasive plants and control methods (manual and herbicide application). Then we'll walk to a section of the Greenway near the wetland forest and remove three invasive species to restore native wetland habitat.

Saving Ash Trees from the Emerald Ash Borer

Josh Kelly, Public Lands Biologist for MountainTrue will give an informational presentation on the emerald ash borer beetle. The presentation will include information on the ecology and abundance of ash in the region, what landowners can do to save treasured trees, and the efforts of MountainTrue and the Pisgah Conservancy to "Save Pisgah's Ashes".

Richmond Hill Invasive Species Workday

Join us and help restore native plant communities by controlling non-native invasive plants at Richmond Hill Park. This is the City of Asheville’s only forested park and is home to many special native plant and animal species! Volunteers help to stop the spread of harmful non-native invasive species and return native species to the unique park.

Lewis Creek Preserve Nature Walk

Edneyville Community Center 15 Ida Rogers Drive, Hendersonville, NC

Lewis Creek Preserve is an eight-acre preserve protected and managed by Conserving Carolina. MountainTrue Ecologist and Public Lands Director, Bob Gale, will lead a slow hike along the trail, interpreting the plant life, wildflowers, and value of pollinators on this property. The visit includes a boardwalk which overlooks an example of the remaining rare Southern Appalachian Bog ecosystems. Bob and MountainTrue have special expertise in managing these bogs and in addressing their threats, including non-native invasive plants.

Green River Fun Float

Polk County Parks and Recreation 105 N Peak St, Columbus, NC

Join MountainTrue's Green Riverkeeper, Polk County Parks & Recreation, and Conserving Carolina for a fun float on a little-used section of the Green River downstream of Lake Adger. Bring a lunch and meet at the Polk County Parks & Recreation office at 11 AM. Then we'll carpool and set a shuttle before putting on the river. We'll take a break halfway to eat and relax. Please indicate below if you will bring your own boat or borrow one of ours. Our boats will be given out on a first come, first served basis. Come explore this beautiful section of river with us!
