In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
On Monday afternoons weather permitting this winter and spring, MountainTrue is hosting volunteer workdays to control nonnative invasive plants and restore native habitat along the Murphy River Walk & Canoe Trail.
Whether you are an avid recycler or a beginner wanting to learn more, we invite you to join MountainTrue on Friday, February 25th, on a tour of Buncombe County's Recycling Facility, Curbie. Here we will take a tour of the facility and have a chance to ask any questions. Registration for this event is required.
MountainTrue will host the 16th annual Winter Bird Watch outing on Lake Chatuge, Saturday, February 26th. Retired Young Harris College professor and MountainTrue member, Brenda Hull will lead the bird watch again this year. A spotting scope is provided for up-close views, but participants should still bring binoculars and a favorite bird identification guide, if they have them. The outing is limited to 10 participants.
