The Friends of the Oklawaha Greenway will host a dedication ceremony honoring Wes Burlingame, a local nurseryman who recently passed away. On April 9th at 10:00 am, at the greenway’s red kiosk, a native plant garden established in his honor will be dedicated. Much of Wes’ career was spent spreading the word about the value of using natives in the home landscape. As a member of Hendersonville’s Tree Board, he planted endless native trees in public spaces including the Oklawaha Greenway, a legacy we will all enjoy for many years to come.
