In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
A key component to a healthy stream or lake and good water quality is native trees and shrubs. In order to raise awareness about the beautiful, resilient plants that are native to our Southern Appalachian Mountains and to provide a little funding for our ongoing invasive plant eradication efforts, we are again holding a Native Tree and Shrub Sale this fall. Choose from 26 species of native trees and shrubs, ranging from large shade trees, native ornamentals, pollinator species, and those particularly beneficial to wildlife. **Your order must be picked up in Murphy, NC on Saturday, November 12th between 9:00am & 1:00pm unless, due to exceptional circumstances, other arrangements are made PRIOR to placing the order.**
For the third consecutive year, MountainTrue is again hosting Monday afternoon volunteer workdays (weather permitting) to control nonnative invasive plants and restore native habitat along the Murphy River Walk & Canoe Trail!
Join members of the High Country Habitat Restoration Coalition on October 19th to remove non-native invasive species along the pathways and trails. Bring loppers, pruners, and gloves, if you have them. Dress in long pants and long sleeves, and bring a hat and water bottle. Work will take place for about 2 hours. Most importantly, bring your love of native plants and the outdoors!
