In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
Visit the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum’s Exhibition Trash Trout Picture Show to learn about microplastics and the collaborative community partnerships with Appalachian State, Watauga Riverkeeper, and New River Conservancy. With trash collected over the past two years, filmmaker and visual artist, Tom Hansell, has created an eye-catching exhibit that speaks volumes to the work being done by our local riverkeepers.
These are workdays to assist with cleanout and inventory of trash types and brands found within the Trash Trout's. This will be a 2 hour workday in Winkler's Creek.
Come plant with us at one of our live staking work days in January! Live staking is the process of planting live cuttings of dormant trees in the riparian buffer zone along the stream bank which helps filter storm water runoff, protect vital aquatic habitat, and prevent soil erosion and sediment pollution.
