Hemlock Treatment Workday in DuPont State Recreational Forest

May 24, 2016 @ 5:30 am - 11:00 am

Free

Join MountainTrue and the Hemlock Restoration Initiative at DuPont State Recreational Forest (DSRF) for a hemlock treatment workday on Tuesday, May 24th from 9:30 AM-3:00 PM.

During our previous three workdays, Hemlock Restoration Initiative and MountainTrue volunteers treated over 200 hemlocks along and near the Little River. Hemlock trees are especially important near streams and creeks as they provide shade to keep stream temperatures cool while also providing habitat for many bird species. We will be chemically treating hemlock trees utilizing the soil-drench method. This is a great opportunity if you are someone who has hemlock trees on your property and want to receive some free, hands-on training to learn a simple, efficient, and low cost way to treat your trees. The best way to learn is by doing!

Please bring your own lunch and be sure to wear long pants, long sleeves, sturdy shoes, extra layers and bring water! It is best to bring a long-sleeved shirt to wear over another shirt for chemical treatment. Click here to sign up for this event!

We will meet at the Visitor Center in the High Falls access area.  Click here for directions to DuPont State Recreational Forest and the High Falls Access Area. If you have any questions about the event, please email Amanda McManaway, amanda@mountaintrue.org.
