Hendersonville Green Drinks: Plant Based Diets and Sustainability

February 14, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Hendersonville, NC – On Thursday, February 14th, Hendersonville Green Drinks welcomes Evan Parker, Executive Assistant at Conserving Carolina and food system enthusiast. Evan recently completed his Master’s thesis at Lenoir – Rhyne University on the intersections between veganism and sustainability. His talk will address one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: feeding an ever growing population while reducing the environmental impacts of agriculture. Evan will explore one of the most promising strategies for meeting this challenge: plant-based diets. Join us to learn how adopting a more plant-based diet may be one of the most important steps you can take to create a more sustainable society and reduce your environmental impact.

Evan Parker is currently the Executive Assistant at Conserving Carolina, a land trust in Hendersonville, NC. In addition, Evan recently completed his M.S. in Sustainability Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University. His master’s thesis explored the intersections between veganism and sustainability. Evan is particularly knowledgeable about the environmental impacts of animal agriculture and the environmental benefits associated with focusing on more plant-based diets. As an environmental professional, Evan views veganism as both a necessary social justice philosophy and as a powerful strategy for sustainability.
