Over the next several months, the Friends of the Oklawaha Greenway will host “Oklawaha Greenway Walks and Talks,” a series of educational outings. The second in the series -- on Saturday, August 20, at 10 a.m. -- focuses on the glory of fall wildflowers growing along the Greenway. The program is open to the public at no charge. Meet at Patton Park in the circular pavilion near the basketball courts. The walk will be about 90 minutes, returning to Patton Park. The hike will be held rain or shine.
Join MountainTrue for the 2016 Wild & Scenic Film Festival, featuring the year’s best short-form nature, wilderness and outdoor adventure films. This year's festival takes place on the beautiful grounds of Sierra Nevada’s Mills River Brewery under the open sky of an outdoor amphitheater carved into the side of a hill and located on the banks of the French Broad River. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Get there early to grab a drink, explore the gardens and snag a prime viewing spot!

On Thursday, January 12, Hendersonville Green Drinks welcomes featured speaker Ned Ryan Doyle, long time solar and sustainable community advocate, former coordinator of the Southern Energy & Environment Expo and host of 'Our Southern Community' radio, to speak on upcoming trends relating to solar and clean energy for WNC. Ned is currently the co-chair of the Technology Working Group of the WNC Energy Innovation Task Force.
