Volunteer with us at the Asheville Marathon! MountainTrue has been chosen as a Charity Partner for the 2023 Asheville Marathon and Half, and they need our help! We are looking for 10 volunteers to help with the event on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Asheville Marathon and Half will donate money to MountainTrue for every volunteer that works a 4-hour shift.

MountainTrue is hosting our second volunteer workday to control non-native invasive plants and restore native habitat at the Jackson County Greenway. We will primarily be pulling up roots and using hand tools to remove invasive shrubs like Chinese privet and then treat the stumps.

Join MountainTrue in a nonnative invasive plant workday on March 23! We will be removing invasive species like multiflora rose, Japanese honeysuckle, privet, and oriental bittersweet in a forest not far from the North Carolina Arboretum.

High Country Live Staking Workday 3/25

Come plant with us at one of our live staking work days in March! Live staking is the process of planting live cuttings of dormant trees in the riparian buffer zone along the stream bank which helps filter storm water runoff, protect vital aquatic habitat, and prevent soil erosion and sediment pollution.

Wildflower Walk and Garlic Mustard Pull 4/19/23

Join MountainTrue staff for what should be peak wildflower conditions along a beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail near Max Patch. We will hike four miles round trip to eradicate an early infestation of garlic mustard and enjoy the sights and sounds of spring along the way. The hike is moderately strenuous.
