Join MountainTrue's Green Riverkeeper and Liquidlogic Co-founder Shane Benedict for the 13th Annual Green River Spring Cleaning! We’ll divide into teams, then get on the river and roadside to pull out as much litter as possible before the summer paddling season. We need paddlers of all skill levels to tackle each section of the Green all the way from the Upper Green below the Tuxedo hydroelectric station, through the Narrows, down the Lower Green, and all the way to Lake Adger.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for our 23 swim guide sites in the New and Watauga River watersheds. Hear about how our mountain community is one of many contributing to an international effort to monitor bacteria levels at local “beaches” or, in our case, lakes or streams.

With Spring finally in tow, we are excited to announce our 2023 BioBlitz! Every year, MountainTrue hosts this event to get experts, naturalists, and learners outdoors to document every living organism we can find. This year's BioBlitz kicks off on June 10th with our in-person day at Big Ivy Community Center. We will split off into groups led by expert naturalists to find and document as many unique species as possible using iNaturalist, a social network to map and share observations of biodiversity across the globe.
MountainTrue Ecologist and Public Lands Director, Bob Gale, is retiring after 25 years! Join us as we share stories, cake and raise a glass to his hard work and accomplishments. We will be in the courtyard of the Wedge at the Foundation from 4:30- 6:30 pm with the Cloud Room reserved in the case of rain. Let's shower Bob with the same love he has bestowed upon his community!
