In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
Want to get in the river AND contribute to its health? Assist MountainTrue with cleanout and inventory of trash types and brands found within the Trash Trout. This trash trout cleanout will be at Winkler’s Creek. Made from recycled materials, this passive litter collection device will be sure to get you asking questions and feeling good about what we can do to mitigate the trash found in the river.
This year marks the 12th annual Women’s Green River Takeover — and instead of the usual group paddle, the event is teaming up with MountainTrue’s Green Riverkeeper for a special river cleanup day on Saturday, August 23.
Participants are invited to camp Friday and Saturday nights at the Green River Ranch (suggested donation: $20 to be given when you arrive to camp), and take part in a community raffle to help fund future Green Riverkeeper cleanup efforts. While this event centers the experiences of women in whitewater, it welcomes all genders who support the mission of getting more women on the river.
Our region’s rivers were heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene, and with breweries playing a key role in our tourism economy, MountainTrue, the French Broad Riverkeeper, and Hi-Wire Brewing are teaming up to help restore our waterways.
Join us on August 23rd for a river cleanup! We'll head out for an on-the-water cleanup, then return to the brewery to celebrate with beer and prizes.
