Join MountainTrue's Green Riverkeeper and Liquidlogic Co-founder Shane Benedict for the 13th Annual Green River Spring Cleaning! We’ll divide into teams, then get on the river and roadside to pull out as much litter as possible before the summer paddling season. We need paddlers of all skill levels to tackle each section of the Green all the way from the Upper Green below the Tuxedo hydroelectric station, through the Narrows, down the Lower Green, and all the way to Lake Adger.
Get ready for an exciting day full of kayaking trips, waterfall rappelling, treks, cold beer, and good music when the Spring Green Bash — Saluda's favorite river and block party — returns on Saturday, May 6th! The whole Green River community is invited to the Spring Green Bash block party at Green River Adventures in downtown Saluda, NC.
Join MountainTrue’s Ecologist and Public Lands Director Bob Gale for a gorgeous and educational hike through Pisgah National Forest. We will be hiking the Pilot Cove Loop Trail which is approximately 4 miles long. This hike offers everything from wildflowers to forests.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for our 23 swim guide sites in the New and Watauga River watersheds. Hear about how our mountain community is one of many contributing to an international effort to monitor bacteria levels at local “beaches” or, in our case, lakes or streams.
Join us on this easy nature walk through the Pittillo Family Nature Preserve for in-depth information about the botany and geology of the area. We will be led by Dan Pittillo, owner of the property and retired Western Carolina University biology professor. We will be walking about a mile with 260 ft elevation gain through narrow foot trails in woodlands.
Concerned about chemical levels in the river? Help Watauga Riverkeeper Volunteers collect water samples at designated sites for chemical analysis at a state-certified lab. This volunteer opportunity is ongoing, please sign up and we will get in contact about details.
Join our High Country Water Team in exploring aquatic wildlife in the Watauga River. We will get up close and personal with many native fish species, such as the tangerine darter. Using view buckets, we can see under the water’s surface and observe the life teeming below.
All are invited to join us in this first ever paddle race at Moss Lake! This fundraiser for the Broad Riverkeeper will be a fun filled day of competition, prizes, and racing!
