MountainTrue French Broad River Section 10 Clean-Up #3 in Tennessee 10/16

Volunteers are invited to help clean up Helene-deposited trash from the French Broad River in Cocke County, Tennessee with MountainTrue’s French Broad Riverkeeper team and outfitters associated with the Nolichucky Outdoor Recreation Association. This clean-up will be boat-based and focus on the river between the North Carolina / Tennessee state line at Paint Rock and Wolf Creek Boat Launch in Del Rio. This stretch of river is often referred to as “Section 10” and contains numerous class II rapids.

Join MountainTrue and SewAVL for a fun evening of creative expression as you create a custom fabric patch (one-of-kind appliqué) to adorn a shirt or jacket from your closet! Breathe some new life into your wardrobe by embellishing your top while upcycling fabrics that have been curated and pulled from the piles that could have wound up in the landfill. You will get to select up to 3-4 elements of your choosing from the fabric options at the event. Once you have designed your patch, instructor Karmen will sew it onto your garment so you can take it with you when you leave. Light refreshments will be available!

MountainTrue is the non-profit beneficiary for Kick It Event Management's Wicked Spooky 5k on Saturday, October 25th! How it works: we raise money for our work in exchange for providing volunteers for the event. Any funds raised will support MountainTrue, including the hurricane recovery work we are doing in the community.

Volunteers will receive a drink ticket for a beer or a n/a beverage after their shift.
