The Valle Crucis Community Park 2892 Broadstone Road, Valle Crucis, NC, United StatesThe Watauga Riverkeeper and MountainTrue are combating sediment erosion in our local waterways. Sediment is a major polluter in our river basin, clogging fish and aquatic habitats, increasing water temperatures, and transporting toxic substances. We are helping to reduce the amount of sediment that flows into our rivers by planting live-stakes along eroding riverbanks. As these stakes grow into trees, they stabilize the sides of the rivers and creeks where we plant them and reduce the overall amount of sediment getting into the river. So, come hop in a boat and help us reduce erosion along our local rivers!
Lake Chatuge Clean up
Towns County Swim Beach Pavillion US-76, Hiawassee, GAWRO will host the 10th Annual Lake Chatuge Shoreline Cleanup, in conjunction with Georgia Rivers Alive! The event will kick off at the Towns County Swim Beach Pavilion at 9:00 AM with breakfast and coffee. Richmond Hill Habitat Restoration Workday
Richmond Hill Park 300 Richmond Hill Dr, Asheville, NC, United StatesJoin us and help restore native plant communities by controlling non-native invasive plants at Richmond Hill Park. This is the City of Asheville’s only forested park and is home to many special native plant and animal species! Volunteers help to stop the spread of harmful non-native invasive species and return native species to the unique park.
Fall Foliage Paddle on the Broad
Broad River Greenway Canoe Access 126 Broad River Drive, Shelby, NC, United StatesSince fall has finally arrived, we're grabbing our boats and headed out onto the Broad River to enjoy the fall colors. We will paddle a beautiful and remote stretch of the Broad from Shelby, NC to Gafney, SC that few people get to enjoy! Because the fall foliage is hard to predict, we're reserving several dates as options for the paddle. We will set a firm date on Nov. 6th based on the weather forecast and river conditions and will email folks who've signed up with the final date.
