• Pickup Event for Western Region Fall Native Tree & Shrub Sale in Murphy, NC (only for those that purchased through our MURPHY, NC ONLINE Plant Sale that ended Nov. 5th)

    This is the pick up event for plants that are pre-ordered and paid for through our western region Fall Native Tree & Shrub Sale fundraiser. The plants are delivered by the nurseries to the MountainTrue Western Regional Office parking lot on the morning of the event, so no early pick-up is available. We will not be ready to fill orders until 3:00 pm sharp! If you arrive early, please find a parking place. Do not form a line in your cars that will quickly prevent others from entering the parking lot.

  • Invasive Plant Removal Workday near Cullowhee, NC at Jackson Greenway 11/15

    Join Mountaintrue for a volunteer workday to remove nonnative invasive plants along the Jackson Greenway, in Partnership with Jackson County Parks and Recreation and Mainspring. We will primarily be pulling up roots and using hand tools to remove invasive plants like Chinese privet, autumn olive, and multiflora rose.

    From September 1 through the end of 2025, every Monday at Iron Key Brewing Co. is dedicated to the Green River.   • Roadless Area Hike Series – Balsam Cone near Asheville, NC 11/22

    To highlight the importance of the Forest Service Roadless Rule, MountainTrue will be leading monthly hikes to roadless areas. In November, we will hike the incredibly unique and scenic Black Mountain Crest trail through the Balsam Cone Roadless Area. 

    John Rock Trail Loop is a moderately difficult 5-mile hike with 1,000 feet of elevation gain. We'll be back to the trailhead by lunchtime, but please bring plenty of water and any snacks you would like along the way.

  • First Saturday of the month clean-up in Chimney Rock, NC 12/6

    Chimney Rock Village Public Parking 432 Main St, Chimney Rock, NC

    Join MountainTrue for a riverside cleanup series in the heart of Chimney Rock Village. Clean-ups will happen the first Saturday of the month beginning in November 2025 and running through July of 2026.

    To highlight the importance of the Forest Service Roadless Rule, MountainTrue will be leading monthly hikes to roadless areas. In December, we will visit one of North Carolina's lesser known 5000' peaks, Boteler Peak in the Nantahala National Forest of Clay County.
