NC Department of Environmental Quality Public Hearing on Duke Energy Permit

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is holding a public hearing on a wastewater permit issue for Duke Energy on August 22. While analysis of this proposal and talking points are forthcoming, we encourage you to plan to attend and push DEQ to protect the French Broad River against toxic coal ash pollution and make Duke Energy clean up its coal ash at Asheville safely and responsibly.

Green River Big Sweep 2018

Join MountainTrue’s Green Riverkeepers for the 2018 Big Sweep  – Western North Carolina’s largest single-day river, roadside and creek cleanup – with cleanups of the Green River Gorge in Saluda or Lake Adger. Then after the cleanups join us at an after party at Sierra Nevada Brewing in Mills River where cleanup volunteers will gather to celebrate their hard work and enjoy great beer.

Join the Watauga Riverkeeper on September 8 to take part in Big Sweep, Western North Carolina’s largest single-day river, roadside and creek cleanup. Green River Spring Cleaning

Join MountainTrue's Green Riverkeeper and Liquidlogic Co-founder Shane Benedict for the 9th Annual Green River Spring Cleaning! We'll meet at the Fishtop Access (2302 Green River Cove Rd, Saluda, NC 28773) at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 13 where we will divide into teams then get on the river to pull out as much litter as possible before the summer paddling season. We need paddlers of all skill levels to tackle each section of the Green all the way from the Upper Green below the Tuxedo hydroelectric station, through the Narrows, down the Lower Green, and all the way to Lake Adger. Bring your boat, paddling gear, snacks/lunch, and water, and be prepared to get dirty and wet. After we're done, we'll head to The Gorge Zipline (166 Honey Bee Dr, Saluda, NC 28773) for an after party with awards.
