In the wake of Hurricane Helene, MountainTrue is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of our community.
Our western region office is again holding a Native Tree and Shrub Sale this fall. Choose from 25 species of native trees and shrubs, ranging from large shade trees, native ornamentals, pollinator species, and those particularly beneficial to wildlife. Ordering is available now through November 11 and pick up will be on Saturday November 16 from 9:00am until 2:00pm.
Join us for a day on the Lower Green River saving hemlocks from the invasive hemlock wooly adelgid. No Experience necessary. A limited number of boats and gear are available on a first come, first served basis.
This workshop is hosted in conjunction with the High Country Habitat Restoration Coalition, a group of organizations dedicated to stamping out invasive species in the headwaters region of our mountains. Come join our group of experts to learn about some of the worst invasives in the region and help clean up the Boone Greenway. If the weather holds, we will be focusing on a spot that is tricky to access when the water is high. The dry weather might not have been welcome in many ways, but it is giving us a window to treat! We will also take a short walkabout and point out other invasive issues along the Greenway, and what is being done to protect it.
This year, the theme for our annual member gathering is “Stronger Together” because we are celebrating a year of growth and our recent merger with the Hiwassee River Watershed Coalition. Please join MountainTrue members from around our mountain region on October 23 to celebrate another great year of protecting the places we share.
