Join our High Country Water Team in exploring aquatic wildlife in the Watauga River. We will get up close and personal with many native fish species, such as the tangerine darter. Using view buckets, we can see under the water’s surface and observe the life teeming below.
All are invited to join us in this first ever paddle race at Moss Lake! This fundraiser for the Broad Riverkeeper will be a fun filled day of competition, prizes, and racing!

Join Broad Riverkeeper, David Caldwell, as he heads up to the South Mountain foothills for a fun paddle on the cool shady waters of the First Broad River. This paddling trip will be a fun summer afternoon on the water, don't miss out!
On June 3rd plēb will be releasing several wines in a lil’ celebration they are calling “Acid on the River”. They will be joined by some of their friends in the beer, wine, food, tattoo, charity (including MountainTrue) and art communities for the occasion. The French Broad Riverkeeper program receives a portion of proceeds from specific sales.
Lewis Creek Preserve is an eight-acre preserve protected and managed by Conserving Carolina. MountainTrue Ecologist and Public Lands Director Bob Gale will lead a slow hike along the nature trail, interpreting the plant life, wildflowers, and value of pollinators on this property. The boardwalk overlooks an example of the remaining rare Southern Appalachian Bog ecosystems. Bob and MountainTrue have special expertise in managing these bogs and in addressing their threats, including non-native invasive plants.
Want to get in the river AND contribute to its health? Assist with cleanout and inventory of trash types and brands found within the Trash Trouts. This weeks trash trout clean out will be at Winkler’s Creek.
Can’t make it to our in-person event on June 10th? Don’t fret! The BioBlitz will continue virtually until June 25th so you can find and document species on your own schedule.
