2023 Craggy Mountain BioBlitz

With Spring finally in tow, we are excited to announce our 2023 BioBlitz! Every year, MountainTrue hosts this event to get experts, naturalists, and learners outdoors to document every living organism we can find. This year's BioBlitz kicks off on June 10th with our in-person day at Big Ivy Community Center. We will split off into groups led by expert naturalists to find and document as many unique species as possible using iNaturalist, a social network to map and share observations of biodiversity across the globe.

MountainTrue Ecologist and Public Lands Director, Bob Gale, is retiring after 25 years! Join us as we share stories, cake and raise a glass to his hard work and accomplishments. We will be in the courtyard of the Wedge at the Foundation from 4:30- 6:30 pm with the Cloud Room reserved in the case of rain. Let's shower Bob with the same love he has bestowed upon his community! 2023 MountainTrue-a-thon

Calling all hikers, bikers and paddlers! Raise money for MountainTrue while doing your favorite activities this Summer. Participants of any experience level collect pledges from family and friends for miles completed between June 15 and August 31st.

River Cleanup with Wicked Weed in Asheville, NC 6-17-23

Come join the river cleanup hosts MountainTrue and Wicked Weed on June 17 from 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. as we clean up the French Broad River. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and clothes you don't mind getting wet and dirty. This section of the French Broad is flatwater and suitable for all paddlers.

Join the Green Riverkeeper on Thursday, June 22nd to kick off our Green Clean Series! This event will continue to happen the 4th Thursday of every month June-September from 5:30-8ish. You do not have to kayak to be a part of the monthly cleans. We absolutely welcome road-side helpers too!

Trash Trout River Clean Out near Boone, NC 7/6

Want to get in the river AND contribute to its health? Assist with cleanout and inventory of trash types and brands found within the Trash Trouts. This weeks trash trout clean out will be at Winkler’s Creek.

VWIN Sampling Weekend in the High Country 7/8-7/9

Concerned about chemical levels in the river? Help Watauga Riverkeeper Volunteers collect water samples at designated sites for chemical analysis at a state-certified lab. This volunteer opportunity is ongoing, please sign up and we will get in contact about details.

5th Annual Broad River Race Day and Fun Float
