On Wednesday, April 24 at 5:30 PM Ashley Hobbs with NC Wildlife Resources Commission will present on “Being BearWise in North Carolina” at St. Pauls Mountain Vineyard located on Flat Rock Square. With springtime in full bloom, black bears have begun their annual awakening from winter hibernation. During this time, we tend to see bears move around heavily populated areas in search of food. This presentation will serve to educate the citizens of Western North Carolina on the natural history of black bears in our state and will provide tools to better co-exist with black bears in our day-to-day lives. We will cover how to become a “BearWise” community or business in North Carolina and provide an update regarding the second phase of NC State’s Urban/Suburban Bear Study. Refreshments will be served. The event is co-sponsored by MountainTrue, Ivester Jackson Blackstream Properties, and Movement Mortgage.
