Waiting List: Green River Gorge Hike 3/18

Green River Cove Trail 3770 Green River Cove Road, Saluda, United States

This is a great late-winter hike that follows the Green River offering continuous views of its quiet stretches to its most intense rapids. We'll look for early wildflowers and migrating warblers. Because it lies at lower elevations than more northerly mountain counties, temperatures should be mild and spring vegetation will be farther along.

Jackson Greenway Workday 3/18

Jackson County Greenway Loop Monteith Gap Rd, Cullowhee, NC, United States

MountainTrue is hosting our second volunteer workday to control non-native invasive plants and restore native habitat at the Jackson County Greenway. We will primarily be pulling up roots and using hand tools to remove invasive shrubs like Chinese privet and then treat the stumps.

World Water Day Celebration 2023

Appalachian Mountain Brewery 163 Boone Creek Dr, Boone, NC, United States

Come raise a glass and celebrate World Water Day at Appalachian Mountain Brewery’s Taphouse in Boone, NC. Watauga Riverkeeper, Andy Hill, will share some of the recent clean water victories, and discuss challenges to water conservation in the High Country. Portions of each pint of Hop Rain Drop goes directly to benefit MountainTrue through AMB’s We Can So You Can foundation, with a focus on revitalization of our communities, mountains & rivers.

Nonnative Invasive Plant Workday in Asheville, NC 3/23

Join MountainTrue in a nonnative invasive plant workday on March 23! We will be removing invasive species like multiflora rose, Japanese honeysuckle, privet, and oriental bittersweet in a forest not far from the North Carolina Arboretum.

High Country Live Staking Workday 3/25

Watauga Upper Gorge Access 2531 Old Watauga River Rd, Sugar Grove, NC, United States

Come plant with us at one of our live staking work days in March! Live staking is the process of planting live cuttings of dormant trees in the riparian buffer zone along the stream bank which helps filter storm water runoff, protect vital aquatic habitat, and prevent soil erosion and sediment pollution.

Bryson City Island Park Volunteer Workday 3/29

Bryson City Island Park 213 Bryson St, Bryson City, NC, United States

Join MountainTrue and the Tuckaseegee River Alliance at another Island Park Invasive Species Workday! We will again primarily be using hand tools to cut invasive shrubs like Chinese privet and then treat the stumps. No prior experience is necessary; we will provide tools and training.
