Our time together will include some connection with like minded neighbors, lay leaders and clergy, prayer and ritual, stories of creation care and resilience from congregations practicing right relationship and practical steps for caring for our neighbors and the earth. We will include time for regionally based brainstorming and discussion.

Bearwallow CCA Spring Hike

This easy-to-moderate trail climbs one mile through the lovely mountain forest and opens up onto a large grassy field at the top. This spectacular summit will be the site for some guided reflection before looping back down the mountain. MountainTrue's Ecologist & Public Lands Director, Bob Gale, will offer some ecological insights along the hike. Once we reach the top of the Mountain Creation Care Alliance director Scott Hardin-Nieri, will provide some spiritual context around caring for our ecological neighbors.

Earth Day Vigil

Although we are unable to gather in person this year, we are excited to host a virtual Earth Day Vigil over Zoom in celebration of Earth Day! The vigil will be focused on the idea of loving people and place and will include readings, prayers, songs, and information about creation care from speakers from throughout Western North Carolina. The vigil will run from 6-7:15 pm and will include regional breakout rooms that will begin directly after the Vigil ends.

Shaping North Carolina’s Clean Energy Future Webinar

MountainTrue, CCA, and NCIPL will offer a free webinar about Duke Energy's draft Carbon Plan from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13. The webinar will feature MountainTrue Central Regional Director Gray Jernigan and NCIPL Program Director Susannah Tuttle, M.Div as guest speakers. Webinar attendees will learn about the implications and shortcomings of Duke Energy's Carbon Plan and leave with the information they need to take action in support of our state's clean energy future at the upcoming NCUC hearing on July 27.

2023 Creation Care Alliance Retreat and Symposium

This retreat is designed with creation care professionals, volunteers, lay leaders, and clergy in mind. Whether you're new to creation care or a long-time advocate, you'll gain new language and tools to inspire your congregation and community to care for the environment (people, non-human creatures, and the planet) interwoven with space for rest, relationship, and prayer.

2023 MountainTrue-a-thon

Calling all hikers, bikers and paddlers! Raise money for MountainTrue while doing your favorite activities this Summer. Participants of any experience level collect pledges from family and friends for miles completed between June 15 and August 31st.

Fall 2023 Eco-Grief Circle

Join us for an Eco Grief Circle this Fall! We will meet weekly on Tuesdays beginning October 10 and ending November 21 from 12pm-1:15 ET. This seven-week online experience will be offered in sessions that last about 1 hour and fifteen minutes. Together we will explore grief and sorrow, anxiety and fear, guilt and shame, anger, and despair. This experience is designed to offer mutual support, healing, insight, and love but is not a grief therapy experience.

The River Runs On Screening in Hendersonville, NC

After three years in the making, we're excited to finally bring to Hendersonville the feature documentary, The River Runs On! This film explores the release of a forest plan that decides the fate of two of the most important national forests in the country - the Pisgah and Nantahala. Featuring some of the top conservationists and most popular spots within the region, the documentary reflects on our relationship with these public lands and what the future may hold for this unique part of the world.
