Nonnative Invasive Plant Workday in Asheville, NC 3/23

Join MountainTrue in a nonnative invasive plant workday on March 23! We will be removing invasive species like multiflora rose, Japanese honeysuckle, privet, and oriental bittersweet in a forest not far from the North Carolina Arboretum.

Roan Mountain Garlic Mustard Pull with Appalachian Trail Conservancy

Join the Appalachian Trail Conservancy on April 28th for their Roan Mountain garlic mustard pull. Volunteers will gather at Roan Mountain in Tennessee to pull and bag as much garlic mustard as they can! This invasive non-native plant has invaded many heavily trafficked areas of the state park. Let's join together to protect the biodiversity and habitat along the A.T. landscape.

Waiting List: Pilot Cove Loop Spring Hike 5/10

Join MountainTrue’s Ecologist and Public Lands Director Bob Gale for a gorgeous and educational hike through Pisgah National Forest. We will be hiking the Pilot Cove Loop Trail which is approximately 4 miles long. This hike offers everything from wildflowers to forests.

Lewis Creek Preserve Nature Walk in Hendersonville, NC 6/7/23

Lewis Creek Preserve is an eight-acre preserve protected and managed by Conserving Carolina. MountainTrue Ecologist and Public Lands Director Bob Gale will lead a slow hike along the nature trail, interpreting the plant life, wildflowers, and value of pollinators on this property. The boardwalk overlooks an example of the remaining rare Southern Appalachian Bog ecosystems. Bob and MountainTrue have special expertise in managing these bogs and in addressing their threats, including non-native invasive plants.

2023 Virtual BioBlitz

2023 Craggy Mountain BioBlitz

With Spring finally in tow, we are excited to announce our 2023 BioBlitz! Every year, MountainTrue hosts this event to get experts, naturalists, and learners outdoors to document every living organism we can find. This year's BioBlitz kicks off on June 10th with our in-person day at Big Ivy Community Center. We will split off into groups led by expert naturalists to find and document as many unique species as possible using iNaturalist, a social network to map and share observations of biodiversity across the globe.

Calling all hikers, bikers and paddlers! Raise money for MountainTrue while doing your favorite activities this Summer. Participants of any experience level collect pledges from family and friends for miles completed between June 15 and August 31st.
