Interested in helping protect the Watauga River? Join our Watauga Riverkeeper for this half-day volunteer training. This training will cover everything you need to know about water quality monitoring to get you started as a volunteer.

The Watauga Riverkeeper and MountainTrue are combating sediment erosion in our local waterways. Sediment is a major polluter in our river basin, clogging fish and aquatic habitats, increasing water temperatures, and transporting toxic substances. We are helping to reduce the amount of sediment that flows into our rivers by planting live-stakes along eroding riverbanks. These stakes will grow into trees that will stabilize the sides of the rivers and creeks where we plant them, and will reduce the overall amount of sediment getting into the river. So, come hop in a boat, or wade and help us reduce erosion along our local rivers!

Join us for our annual Dad’s Day Cleanup. A family friendly afternoon of cleaning up trash and flood debris. Volunteers will meet in VC Park and spread the love up and downriver. Cleanup from 1-3. Trash bags provided. Bring waders if you have them.
