High Country Habitat Restoration Workday

Boone Greenway Parking Lot @ Hunting Hills ln 355 Hunting Hills Ln, Boone, NC

This workshop is hosted in conjunction with the High Country Habitat Restoration Coalition, a group of organizations dedicated to stamping out invasive species in the headwaters region of our mountains. Come join our group of experts to learn about some of the worst invasives in the region and help clean up the Boone Greenway. If the weather holds, we will be focusing on a spot that is tricky to access when the water is high. The dry weather might not have been welcome in many ways, but it is giving us a window to treat! We will also take a short walkabout and point out other invasive issues along the Greenway, and what is being done to protect it.

MountainTrue's Forest Keeper Coordinator, Rhys Burns, will offer some ecological insights along the hike, and Creation Care Alliance director Scott Hardin-Nieri will provide some spiritual context around caring for our ecological neighbors. We will hope to catch some fall colors, but the view is outstanding regardless. We will meet at the trailhead at 9:00 (after hopefully carpooling from town!) and get everyone back to town by noon.
